No, English is the second language here and there are plenty of people who can accommodate English speakers. However, knowing Spanish is an asset when living or doing business in Costa Rica and trying is always appreciated by locals. How can I get residency in Costa Rica?
There are many ways to obtain Costa Rican residency depending on your particular situation (if you are an investor, retired, stockholder etc.). What are property taxes like in Costa Rica?
Property taxes in Costa Rica are significantly lower than in the United States, Canada or Europe. On residential property, taxes are only 1⁄4 of 1%, or 0.0025% of the property value. For example, a property worth $400,000 pays $1,000 a year in taxes.

How do I go about buying property in Rancho Villa Real?

Typically, people set up a Costa Rican corporation and buy real estate with the new corporation. Setting up an “off the shelf” corporation is done easily through an attorney for about $600 (USD). Legal representation is an important element in real estate transactions in Costa Rica and we are happy to provide bilingual, reputable recommendations.
Once you purchase a property the deed is entered into the national registry and you receive all of the same legal rights regarding ownership as Costa Rican citizens.

What is Rancho Villa Real like?
Rancho Villa Real is a country, ranch-style, gated community development on 135 acres of wooded, pristine land. We like to think of it as convenient country living because you have space, privacy and security inside, but you are only 5 minutes to the beach and all of the services and amenities Tamarindo has to offer. It is the best of both worlds.
What is the range of real estate being offered?
We offer 42 beautiful, wooded estate lots that are between 1.2 acres (5,000 meters sq) and 2 1/3 acres (9590 meters sq). These lots are located in the upper part of the project, known as Escondido and many of them have stunning valley and ocean views. There will be 36 half acre (2025 meters sq) lots in the lower part of the project to be used for single family units. And, there will be 9 condominium blocks available for low density condos which have a two storey height restriction.
Will there be a Homeowners Association?
Yes, there will be an association with homeowner fees to cover the operation and maintenance of community facilities and amenities. However, they will be kept to a minimum and can be adjusted by homeowners to reflect needs and costs.
